CBS is
associated with the
Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students , a national organisation made up of many Christian student groups around the
country.
What do
we do?
Our name
sums up what we are about - students studying the Bible on campus! We meet regularly
on campus in large and small groups. There are
weekly talks given from the Bible by some of the best Bible teachers around. Also, we meet
in
small groups of students from your own faculty to study the Bible and pray.
The highlight
of the year is
Mid Year Conference (MYC) , where you can spend a whole week learning about God with over 500 other students!
What do
we hope to achieve?
We want
students at UNSW to hear and accept God's great offer of forgiveness and eternal
life through Jesus Christ. We want Christians on campus to grow in their knowledge
and love of God.
What about
other groups?
UniChurch
UniChurch is for anyone who lives around UNSW and is keen to understand more of God's word
and to apply it in their daily lives. It is especially for university students
who live either in the local residential colleges or in flats/apartments around
the campus area.
Most who
come are Christian people wanting to learn more and to meet with others. However,
many are not yet Christian and want to look into the claims of Jesus. Each week
we have a Bible passage read and explained and an opportunity to ask questions.
There are small prayer and Bible study groups meeting through the week as well
as opportunities for training in Christian ministry and a range of other activities.
FOCUS
FOCUS is the Fellowship of Overseas Christian University Students. It began 25 years ago when a small group of overseas and Australian university students gathered together to study the Bible on the campus of UNSW. Today there are FOCUS groups across many Australian campuses, and at UNSW (under God.s kindness) we now have Bible fellowships and Church meetings for every major language group in our midst: Indonesian, Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
